Advanced Skill Development
Advanced Skill Development.
Once swimmers have built core skills and confidence in the Learn to Swim program, they progress into Stages 8–10. This phase focuses on developing more advanced aquatic abilities—refining technique, improving stamina, and introducing performance elements like starts, turns, and pacing. It’s the perfect bridge between foundational swimming and competitive or lifelong fitness swimming.
Lesson options for Advanced Skill Development
-
A one-off, paid session to meet the coach and see how your child responds to the water. The coach will assess their comfort and ability, then recommend whether a group or private format is best suited.
-
A 1:1 session with a coach, fully tailored to your child’s pace and needs. Ideal for building confidence, focusing on technique, or supporting nervous swimmers.
-
Two swimmers share one coach—great for siblings or friends of similar ability. Sessions are still personalised, with the added benefit of shared motivation and fun.
-
Small group lessons with a maximum of 5 children per coach. Swimmers of similar age and ability learn together, building skills and confidence in a social, supportive setting.
WHAT WILL THEY LEARN
These advanced stages are for confident swimmers ready to refine technique, build stamina, and develop performance-focused skills:
Stroke Refinement: Improves efficiency and technique across all four strokes with a focus on form and consistency.
Stamina & Endurance: Builds aerobic fitness through longer swims and interval training.
Speed Development: Introduces pace control, sprint work, and basic speed drills.
Coordination: Combines multiple skills into smooth, flowing movements for better performance.
Breath Control: Enhances underwater work and breathing patterns for advanced swimming.
Turns & Transitions: Teaches correct tumble turns, open turns, and stroke transitions.
Diving Skills: Focuses on safe, effective dives from poolside or blocks for competition readiness.
These stages prepare swimmers for competitive pathways, club entry, or lifelong fitness through confident and technically strong swimming.
