Water Awareness courses.

Our Water Safety Program provides house staff with essential water safety training, lifeguard skills, and basic swimming competence. Designed for those responsible for supervising children around water, it ensures they are well-prepared to handle emergencies, enforce safety protocols, and swim confidently.

Lesson options for Water Awareness

  • A flexible package of sessions to be completed over a set number of weeks. These clinics are designed to build essential water awareness skills at a steady, manageable pace for those with varying schedules.

  • One-on-one training tailored to the individual’s confidence and ability around water. Focused on water safety, emergency response, and building confidence when supervising children near pools or open water.

  • Two participants of similar level share a coach. A great option for staff from the same household or compound to learn together while still receiving focused instruction on water safety and supervision.

  • A small group session (max 6) covering key water awareness and safety practices. Ideal for teams of staff, providing hands-on learning, basic rescue techniques, and confidence-building in a supportive group setting.

WHAT WILL THEY LEARN

This essential course is designed for caregivers who are responsible for supervising children around water. It provides practical skills, safety knowledge, and hands-on experience to help prevent accidents and respond confidently in emergencies.

What’s Covered:

  • Understanding the risks around pools, bathtubs, and open water

  • Recognising signs of distress and how to respond

  • Basic water safety rules for children

  • Safe play supervision techniques

  • Introduction to floating and basic swim support

  • Emergency action steps and how to raise the alarm

  • Building confidence in the water through supported exercises

No swimming experience is needed to join. The focus is on awareness, prevention, and confidence, giving your staff the tools to create a safer environment for the children in their care.
