BABY SWIMMING
Baby Swimming
Introducing infants and toddlers to the water in a safe and gentle manner, our baby and toddler classes focus on building water confidence from an early age. Through playful activities and songs, we teach fundamental skills such as floating, kicking, and breath control. Our experienced instructors ensure a nurturing and supportive environment, making the first encounters with water enjoyable and stress-free for both children and parents.
Lesson options for Baby Swimming
-
A trial lesson is a one-off, paid session that gives you and your baby the chance to meet the coach and experience our style of teaching before committing to a term. During the session, the coach will gently assess your baby’s current comfort and ability in the water.
It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, get a feel for the environment, and for the coach to recommend whether a group or private lesson would be best suited to your baby’s needs at this stage.
-
A private swimming lesson is a one-on-one session between a swimmer and their coach. This personalised setup allows the coach to focus entirely on the swimmer’s individual needs, whether it's building confidence, improving technique, or progressing at a faster pace. Lessons are tailored to the swimmer's goals.
-
A semi-private swimming lesson involves two swimmers sharing one coach. It’s a great option for siblings or friends of similar ability who want to learn together while still receiving personalised attention. The coach tailors the session to suit both swimmers, ensuring progress and fun in a more social setting.
-
Baby swim group lessons are designed for little ones to enjoy the water alongside their parent or guardian, in a group of no more than 5. These sessions are as social for the adults as they are beneficial for the babies—helping build water confidence, encourage early development, and create a calm, positive association with swimming. The group setting also offers a lovely opportunity to connect with other families.
WHAT WILL THEY LEARN
Our baby and toddler sessions (3months to 2/3 years) follow Swim England’s early years guidance, introducing little ones to water through safe, playful, and confidence-building activities:
Water Familiarity: Babies explore the feel of water through songs, splashing, and gentle movement.
Parent-Child Bonding: Parents stay in the water to support and build trust with their child throughout.
Gentle Submersion: When ready, babies are gradually introduced to underwater experiences at their own pace.
Floating Support: Front and back supported floats develop body awareness and early swim skills.
Sensory Play: Toys, music, and bubbles create a fun, stimulating environment that promotes learning.
Basic Movement: Kicking, reaching, and turning help build coordination and strength.
Confidence & Trust: Each session is designed to be positive and nurturing, building long-term water confidence.
Perfect for laying the foundation for a lifelong love of the water.
